Vita-Mix It is a discredit to call this a blender as it operates at a much higher level, liquefying solids that ordinary blenders only chop into fine pieces. This model has a variable speed selector to allow food processing for foods like salsa. It is heavy, as it is well built and with proper care can last a lifetime. The blade assembly is permanently built into the jar, as to prevent damage from improper re-assembly. It is surprisingly easy to clean, the toughest cleanup is done by adding a few drops of dish soap to the jar 3/4 full of water, and running the unit for a few seconds, then rinsing. The lid has a removable piece to add ingredients while the machine is running, and a specially designed tamper to push food towards the blades, if necessary while processing thick mixtures. Although the Vita-Mix falls in the category of a blender, it is designed to process quality, high vitamin fruits, vegetables and fibrous protein grains into easy to digest liquids. Seeds which are split into chunks that fall to the bottom of drinks made by other blenders, are liquefied by the Vita-Mix. The blades spin so fast at the highest setting that the friction will heat liquids, so it is possible to make soup completely in the Vita-Mix.
